AM

about me

I’m Aaron Farrelly, an Ireland-based illustrator and designer.

My design process represents my belief that less is more, but that every detail matters. Drawing inspiration from my love of books and storytelling, I approach each design project as a story waiting to be told. There is careful consideration of both concept and context, brought through vivid research and playful sketches of possible design solutions.

Since childhood, art has been a form of escapism, providing a quiet bubble of calmness when life got a bit loud. My design journey has represented a combination of simplicity, precision and a narrative depth, and mixed with my admiration of clean aesthetics creates a timeless professionalism, where every element serves its purpose in conveying the overall message.

Through my interest in sketching, an intricate attention to detail has found its way into my designs. With delicate balance of typography and the strategic inclusion of whitespace, each design decision is deliberate. Every element has its place. Every aspect has a function. Yet has an underlying sense of complexity. There’s something under the surface that the viewer can decode themselves.

My designs tend to represent me and my personality through calmness and simplicity. To tell a complex and meaningful story, I strip it back to its most simple essence, creating a design that speaks volumes without overwhelming the senses. Almost like an aggressive restraint. My designs stand as a beacon of serenity and clarity, offering a breath of air in a realm where we’re drowning in chaos and complication.

I aim for perfection, which shows my dedication to each project I’m given. And although my work has a professional aesthetic, I constantly seek refinement and a desire to improve my skill and technique.
